School is closed today (March 23, 2022)

23 Mar

Good morning Brownridge families,

You may have already seen or heard the news, but it is officially an Inclement Weather Day for YRDSB. School is CLOSED to students and all transportation is CANCELLED.

Teachers will be posting asynchronous material for students to work through today at their own pace.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow (March 24th)!

Thank you.

Joe Gold

YRDSB email to families from January 16, 2022:

As noted in our earlier communication to families, this year, when an inclement weather day is declared, school transportation will be cancelled and schools will be closed to students. If an inclement weather day is declared, please do not send your child to school. We are unable to guarantee appropriate coverage for students on inclement weather days when school transportation is closed and classes cannot be combined. In previous years, schools have remained open when school transportation is cancelled, however, given the importance of adhering to our health and safety guidelines, schools will be closed to students on inclement weather days.

< p style=”margin-left:0in;”>Announcements will be posted as early as possible and no later than 6:00 a.m. Please check the following for updates:

  • Student Transportation Services
  • Student Transportation Hotline: 1-877-330-3001
  • @YRDSB Twitter account
  • Board website ( and school websites
  • Radio and TV media outlets

Please continue to monitor local media for up to date weather forecasts and take safety precautions advised by local authorities.

Our priority continues to be the safety of our students, staff members and families.

Drive safely today- it’s slippery

7 Mar

Good morning Brownridge families,

The Brownridge parking lot and side walks are slippery because of the freezing rain. Please be careful when walking on the school grounds and when driving in the parking lot. Be safe when driving on city streets as well.

Have a good day,

Joe Gold

VIRTUAL “MAKE A CAPE” NIGHT- Join forces with Brownridge to support “CAPES FOR KIDS” at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital

1 Mar

Starting March 7th, Brownridge will once again be participating in the “Capes for Kids” fundraising campaign for Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. This amazing facility is committed to helping create a world of possibility for children and youth living with disabilities, medical complexity, illness and injury. Our fundraising efforts will run from March 7th through March 11th and culminate in “Wear Your Cape to School” Day on March 11th as a celebration of the difference we can make in the lives of others. Our school goal is to raise $1500. Check out our fundraising page here.

On Tuesday, March 8th, families are invited to join us virtually to make their own cape. See the flyer below for details. (You will need to cut a large adult t-shirt during this event).
