Be in the know at Brownridge…

29 Aug

Good afternoon Brownridge PS families!

We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer. We are very excited that school is just around the corner. Staff have been working diligently to prepare for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year.

I would like to welcome new families and returning families to Brownridge PS. School begins on Tuesday, September 3rd. Supervision begins at 8:25am. Staff will be meeting and greeting students in grades 1 to 8 on the tarmac at their entry door (returning students were shown their entry door during switch day in June). SK students will meet their educator team in the kindergarten area.  Teachers will be holding a poster with their name on it so your child can easily identify them. If you are new to Brownridge, there will be staff with master lists available to help you locate your child’s teacher.

Students in JK will be joining their classes at 1:30pm. This is a very exciting time for them as they enter school for the first time. We understand this can be bittersweet for parents. Rest assured we are here to help them feel safe and welcomed for their first school experience. Please bring your JK children to the kindergarten area on the east side of Brownridge just past the YMCA.

End of day procedures:

Students on Buses

At the end of the day, students in Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 will be escorted to their buses by school staff. Students from grade 3-8 who take the bus home will be informed of their bus number by staff. They will be meeting in the gym prior to dismissal to arrange for an efficient and organized dismissal. Students will then make their way to their bus at the end of the day where staff will be available to support.

Students in Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 who attend the YMCA will be picked up by YMCA staff and escorted from their classroom to the YMCA. Students in other grades who attend the YMCA will make their way to the YMCA at the end of the day.

Parent Pick up

If you are picking up your child, please pick them up at the exit door (Same as entrance door) appropriate to their grade.

Please see information below related to transportation for those who are eligible.

As you know, the first day can be a little hectic. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that students are made to feel comfortable as they find their class.

Have an awesome long weekend and we will see you Tuesday, September 3rd.

Joe Gold
