International and Indigenous Languages (IIL) Program Registration for 2019-2020

Elementary International and Indigenous Languages Program Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on Thursday, April 11, 2019. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering online registration for our elementary program. Registering online will eliminate wait times and long line-ups.  To facilitate registration, on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 4:00 pm, online registration will be available for the first time through Edsby on our webpage:

Families can still register in person at the language site starting April 11 and in September. Please contact our office at  if you would like to register in person before September.

Did you know that the IIL Program has over 20 languages to choose from? Currently we have approximately 15,000 students registered in our programs across the Board.  Students from SK to Grade 8 are eligible to take language classes that run once a week during weekday evenings (from Tuesday to Friday) or Saturday mornings for 2.5 hours. There are many new and exciting things in store for the upcoming 2019/2020 school year, such as the opportunity to learn the Indigenous languages Ojibwe and Cree.

Please note that due to space limitations, registration applications will take place on a first-come-first-serve basis. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrolment or lack of teacher availability.

Earth Hour is Tonight! And here is more info to know…

30 Mar
  1. Join in on something big! Countries around the world are participating in Earth Hour! Earth Hour is an annual tradition in which people switch off their lights to spread awareness about sustainability and climate change. The symbolic effort started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, when the WWF encouraged 2.2 million people to turn off their lights for one hour to support action on climate change. Since then, millions of people around the world have taken part. Landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Sydney Opera House, the Empire State Building, Buckingham Palace, the Colosseum and Edinburgh Castle also have gone dark for an hour. Tonight, from 8:30-9:30, turn off your lights and monitors, light some candles and use flashlights, and make a difference. #weareallinthistogether
  2. This Friday, April 5th, students will be participating in the Bring A Book/Take A Book initiative. Each student will be able to find a book of their choice and then purchase more for 50 cents each. If you are able to volunteer your time to help on this day please email to let them know. We are in need of books for our students in grades 4-8. We can even come to your home if you need us to pick up your boxes of books. Need a pick up? Email
  3. Tuesday, April 2 is Autism Awareness Day. We are going to light it up blue by asking all staff and students to wear blue clothing to highlight the importance of this day.
  4. SAVE THE DATE: The first ever AMAZING RACE MATH NIGHT is coming to Brownridge on Thursday, May 2. Based on the popular television show The Amazing Race, Brownridge families will be able to participate in awesome math activities, experience road blocks, participate in modern math learning, and receive an epic loot bag for the family (one per family). Registration will open soon.

Thanks, The Brownridge Team
