Be in the know at Brownridge…

21 Dec

Info to know:

  1. Thank you to Ms. Suh and the Student Voice Club for organizing an amazing free movie night last night for the Brownridge community. A fun time was had by all.
  2. Goal setting is an important skill and coming into a new year is a great time to set a goal and come up with a plan to try and achieve that goal. What works for you? What works for your child? Will you work on being more organized? Taking initiative? Being punctual? Doing something for your own well-being? Being more active? These are just a few examples to consider.
  3. School resumes on Monday, January 7, 2019 following the winter break.
  4. Kindergarten registration begins on January 18, 2019.
  5. For families interested in sending their SK child to French Immersion for grade one for 2019-2020 school year, you may come to the Brownridge office for a signed copy of your child’s index card beginning January 7 required for registration at the French Immersion School between January 18 and February 8.
  6. Wishing everyone a restful winter break with friends and family.

Be well, The Brownridge Team

Info to know at Brownridge…

  1. The Brownridge Comic Con is happening this Thursday (December 6). It is going to be epic! All families are invited to join us to admire and appreciate the artwork, the comics and the creativity that the students have been working on in the name of literacy and engagement (and fun)!

  2. Random Acts of Kindness- for the past week students have been recognized for engaging in random acts of kindness. Staff at Brownridge have been handing out stickers that say “You’ve been caught being a superhero” that have a picture of a superhero on them to students. In an effort to promote kindness and belonging, we are seeing more random acts of kindness daily! Way to go Brownridge!

  3. Our Intermediate Volleyball teams challenged Brownridge staff to a couple of volleyball games on Thursday and Friday. Students at Brownridge came to cheer on everyone and fun was had by all! Thank you to all students who donated a non-perishable food item to watch the games in support the Holiday Heroes Campaign.

  4. Our Holiday Heroes Campaign is on and we are asking all families to donate non-perishable food items, new toys and/or new clothes (hats, gloves, mittens, coats) to help those who need our help. If every student and staff donated two items, we would have over 700 items. Come on Brownridge…we can do it!

  5. Thank you to Richard Bicknell for speaking with our students in grades 7 and 8 and their parents about the impact of their words and actions in social media, in day to day interactions and related to integrity. Through the BrandED seminar (using a business model to support an understanding that everything we do and say has impact) students and parents had an opportunity to hear about real world stories that changed the lives of individuals overnight.

  6. The Scholastic Book Fair came to Brownridge last week, and it was a huge success!  We reached our goal of $3,500.00 worth of sales thanks to the support of our students, staff and the entire Brownridge community! Your participation in this important literacy event was key to helping us obtain new books and resources for our library and classroomsMrs Tenenbaum would like to express her extreme gratitude and appreciation to the many parent volunteers who were vital to the success of the book fair. Some worked several shifts to ensure that the fair could remain open and accessible to students and parents throughout the week.  Thank you so much- we could not have done it without you!!!

    Have a wonderful weekend!
