INFO TO KNOW AT BROWNRIDGE…

9 Nov

Info to know:

  1. Thank you to Gershon Willinger for coming to Brownridge to speak to our students in grades 6,7 and 8 about the Holocaust and his story of survival. It was educational, inspirational and impactful. Mr. Willinger gave students a firsthand account of his experiences in concentration camps, the amazing risks individuals took to save Jews and the importance of never being a bystander. #standupforwhatyoubelievein
  2. Our Remembrance Day assembly is taking place on Monday, November 12. On Remembrance Day, we remember the veterans who served our country in times of conflict. Every year, Canadians pause for a moment of silence to remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. By remembering their service and their sacrifice, we recognize the tradition of freedom these men and women fought to preserve. They believe that their actions in the present would make a significant difference for the future, but it is up to us to ensure that their dream of peace is realized. On Remembrance Day, we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country and acknowledge our responsibility to work for the peace they fought hard to achieve.
  3. Progress reports are coming home on November 21. Student led conferences and Parent teacher interviews are taking place on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23. You can now sign up on EDSBY (please see eblasts and blogs for more info).
  4. Our grades 4 and 5 tech club started this week. This student led initiative was a huge hit and the students learned from each other. They explored Cahoot as a program and a good time was had by all.
  5. Our intermediate girls played hard at a volleyball tournament this week. They demonstrated sportsmanship and skill. Thanks to Mr. Hinds and Ms. Suh for coaching.
  6. As the snowflakes fell from the sky today, it was a good reminder that students need to have appropriate clothing when at school. Please ensure students have hats, gloves and appropriate footwear for the weather.
  7. Join us on Monday, November 12 for our School Council Mtg. See you at 6:30 in the library.
  8. Next week students will have an opportunity to complete the “Every Student Counts” Survey. Stay tuned for further instructions.
