Lates and Absences

19 Apr

The education Act states, “a pupil shall attend punctually and regularly”(Regulation 262, Section 23).

At Brownridge, we emphasize the importance of good attendance and arriving to school on time to help students establish patterns for success, now and in the future. We have at least 12-15 students arriving late each day. Students who arrive late disrupt classmates’ learning and risk missing essential instruction. School begins promptly at 8:40 and students are expected to be in their classes prepared and ready to learn.  If your child is late due to an appointment or unforeseen circumstance, please call the office prior to 8:40 to report (905-660-3083). Otherwise, please make any adjustments necessary to your morning routines to ensure your child arrives at school on time.

As well, if your child will be absent, please call the office before 8:30 a.m. If your child is absent for more than 1 day in a row, you need to call the office each day to report the absence.
