June 26, 2014 – Early Release Day

28 May

Dear Parents/Guardians:

RE:  June 26, 2014 – Early Release Day

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 26th, 2014 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice over the past four years, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 26th, 2014 only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:30 a.m.  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bussed to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

Special Needs Track and Field Meet POSTPONED

20 May

We’d like to share with our community that the difficult decision has been made to postpone tomorrow’s Regional Track and Field meet for students with special needs.

At the moment, Environment Canada is predicting rain to begin at 11 am, with the possibility of thunder and lightning.  For student and staff safety and comfort, the organizers will postpone the meet and look for an alternate date.

We will communicate a revised date to the community once one has been established.

Science Night is Tonight!!!

12 May

Just a friendly reminder that the Brownridge school council is hosting a family fun tonight, Monday May 12th from 6:15pm to 8:30 pm.  A night of Science is packed with fun including 3 great activities to choose from: Use clues to solve a crime, use food to make unique new things, and see how birds nest and create a home for them.  You can only choose 2 activities – so which will you choose?  The first session start promptly at 6:30 so come early to get your free tickets!  Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the entire evening. See attached flyer for more details.

Hope to see you there!
