Junior students at Brownridge P.S. will have an opportunity to participate in the Ability Awareness Workshops on Tuesday February 11, 2014. This workshop, provided by Regional Special Education Services, is a school-based experiential program that allows students to gain an increased in awareness of how different types of disabilities affect the day-to-day life of fellow students. Students will learn that:
• • Everyone has unique abilities and talents
• • Our attitudes can create the biggest barriers
• • We should focus on people’s abilities
• • Attitudes are important in determining how all people experience the community
• • It is important to see the PERSON FIRST and the disability second
• • We are all MORE ALIKE than DIFFERENT!
