Welcome Back!

30 Aug

We are excited to begin another year with our staff, students, and community.  Over the weeks to come, you’ll see many familiar faces, as well as some new ones who have recently joined the Brownridge P.S. family.  In particular, we’d like to share that they’ll be two new faces supporting us in the office, Carolyn James, our Elementary Office Administrative Assistant, and Tiziana Papi, our Office Assistant.  Please be sure to say hello!

We look forward to seeing everyone return to school on Tuesday, September 3rd.  School begins each and every day at 8:40 a.m., sharp!  In an effort to have students ready to learn right at our instructional start time, we begin entry into the school at 8:30 a.m., so students can get organized for the morning without losing valuable teaching and learning time.  Outdoor supervision begins 15 minutes before our start time at 8:25 a.m.  Please do not drop off students before this time.  If students arrive any time after 8:40 a.m., entry doors will be locked, and they are considered late, and must proceed to the office for a late slip through the front door.

On our first day back, however, we encourage all students to arrive early to school.  All students in grades 1 through 8 should proceed to the tarmac at the back of the school where staff will be holding up signs indicating different grades.  These staff will assist students being sorted into their classes.  Kindergarten students should enter the fenced in Kindergarten area on the east side of the school, where they will be sorted into their classes.  We ask parents and guardians to support the school by enabling us to focus on student safety and establishing routines during this first week.  To this end, we ask that no parents or guardians enter the building with students on opening day, and to please minimize inessential office visits until routines are established.

Entry and dismissal routines will be established in the first week.  All students will enter the school each morning by getting into their lines at their designated doors, starting at 8:30 a.m. in preparation for the 8:40 a.m. start of school.  At dismissal times, students will be dismissed and will exit out their designated doors.  Parents wanting to meet their child after school should arrange to meet them at these doors after school.  The only students who will exit through the front doors are those that ride the bus.  We understand that in some unexpected circumstances, a parent may be late in arriving to pick up their children.  Please notify the office in these cases.  Parents are also encouraged to speak to their children around strategies if they are not there.  Children should return to the school and report to the office that their parents have not arrived.  Please make regular arrangements for the dismissal time and review them with your child.

We look forward to a great first day!
